Junk trucks, vans and SUVs

Will you take a truck or van?

Yes. Gold Cash for Junk Cars buys pickups, cargo vans, minivans and SUVs that are junked, wrecked or not running, around Calumet City and the nearby suburbs. Tell us the make, model and size, get an offer by phone, and we tow it free and pay at pickup by cash, Zelle or Cash App.

Trucks and vans die the same way cars do, but they are harder to ignore. A dead cargo van takes up the whole driveway, a pickup with a blown transmission blocks the garage, and several of the villages we serve limit where work vehicles can be stored at all. We buy them and tow them away free, the same as any car.

Vehicles we take

  • Pickups, from compact to full-size, two- or four-wheel drive.
  • Cargo and passenger vans, including work vans with shelving or racks.
  • Minivans.
  • SUVs and crossovers, running or not.

Condition doesn’t matter: wrecked, rusted, not running, missing parts. See non-running cars for what to tell us about a vehicle that won’t move. Bigger than a pickup? Box trucks, semi tractors and trailers have their own page: junk box trucks and semis.

Why size helps the offer

Most of a junk vehicle’s value is its metal, and trucks and SUVs simply have more of it. A complete full-size pickup usually outweighs a compact car by a wide margin. Completeness still counts, so tell us if the engine, transmission, wheels or catalytic converter are missing. How offers are set is explained in what a junkyard pays for a car, and the scrap side is on our scrap car page.

Village rules on stored work vehicles

If you have been keeping an old work truck at home, check the local code. Three examples from the towns we cover:

  • Lansing, section 38-201: semis and buses may not be stored in residential or commercial districts, and tow trucks, box trucks and similar vehicles may not be stored outdoors on residential lots or nearby streets unless garaged or on a driveway.
  • Calumet City, section 90-323: no overnight street parking for trucks, buses and other commercial vehicles; the same classes can’t be stored on residential lots unless they serve that lot.
  • Glenwood, section 102-435(c): vehicles over 12,000 pounds can’t sit more than 6 hours on residential streets, lots or yards.

The town pages for Lansing, Lynwood and Chicago Heights cover the local street rules in more detail.

Getting it ready

  • Clear out tools, ladders and anything stored in the bed or cargo area.
  • Remove the plates. In Illinois they belong to you; our plates and stickers article explains what to do next, including the Seller’s Report of Sale.
  • Have the title or the papers we agreed on, plus two forms of ID.
  • Tell us about access: a long or soft driveway, a low garage, or a lot with a gate.

Payment is cash, Zelle or Cash App when the vehicle is loaded, and the tow is free.

Questions people ask

Do you buy commercial vans with ladder racks or shelving?
Yes. Tell us what is fitted inside or on top so the offer and the loading plan account for it, and remove any tools or stock you want to keep.
Is a big truck worth more than a car?
Often, because there is more metal in it. Completeness, condition and papers still matter, so we quote each one on the phone.
Can you pick up a box truck or a heavy-duty pickup?
Yes. We buy box trucks, semis and other commercial vehicles too, and we arrange the right tow for each one. Give us the make, model and size when you call.
My village says I can't store a work truck in my yard. Can you take it this week?
Possibly. Same-day pickup is often possible; we set the time when you accept the offer.
