Free junk car towing
Do I pay anything for the tow?
No. When Gold Cash for Junk Cars buys your car, the tow costs you nothing and your offer isn't cut to pay for it. We pick up from driveways, streets, alleys, apartment lots and repair shops across Calumet City and nearby towns, and you are paid by cash, Zelle or Cash App when the car is loaded.

Towing is where junk car sales usually go wrong. Someone quotes a number on the phone, the truck shows up, and suddenly there is a towing fee or a “hook-up charge” coming off the top. We don’t do that. The offer you accept on the phone is the amount you are paid, and the tow costs you nothing.
Call, offer, tow
- You tell us about the car. Year, make, model, whether you have the title, and where it is. The quote form asks for exactly that, or you can call.
- We make an offer by phone. If you accept, we agree on a pickup time. Same-day is often possible.
- The driver loads the car. They check that the car matches what you described and look over the papers.
- You get paid. Cash, Zelle or Cash App, at the pickup, once the car is on the truck and the title is signed over.
Pickup spots
- Your driveway or garage. The simplest. If the garage is tight, clear a path to the door.
- The street in front of your house. Fine. Just know your village’s overnight and snow rules; several of the towns we serve ban street parking at night, and a car that can’t move gets towed by the village instead. Our inoperable vehicle rules article lists them town by town.
- An alley. Most villages limit alley parking to loading, which is what we are doing. Tell us the alley access so the driver comes in the right way.
- Apartment and condo lots. Let the manager know a buyer is towing the car, especially if the lot has its own towing company.
- Repair shops. With the shop’s OK, and after any repair bill is settled.
- Mobile home parks. Give us the lot number and let the park office know.
We can’t take a car off property where we don’t have the owner’s permission, and we can’t pick up across the state line in Indiana.
Bring these to the pickup
- The title, signed over at pickup, or the other papers we agreed on during the call.
- A photo ID. Illinois law has scrap buyers record the seller’s identity from two sources of identification, one of them a driver’s license or state ID card (625 ILCS 5/5-401.3). Bring both if you can.
- The keys, if you have them. If you don’t, tell us; it doesn’t stop the sale.
- Your plates, removed. In Illinois, plates belong to you, not the car. See plates and stickers after junking.
Why free towing doesn’t mean a lower offer
The cost of the tow is built into how we run, not subtracted from your number. What does move the offer is the car itself: its weight, whether it is complete, whether it runs, and the papers. That is explained in what a junkyard pays for a car.
Towns we tow from
Our base is 920 Harding Ave in Calumet City. From there we cover the nearby villages, including Burnham right next door and Lynwood down on the state line. Every area is on the locations page.
Questions people ask
- Do I have to be there when the car is picked up?
- Usually yes, or someone you trust, because the title has to be signed over and payment handed to the seller. If that is hard to arrange, tell us on the call and we will work out the timing.
- Flat tires or missing wheels: is that a problem?
- Yes. Tell us before the pickup so the driver brings what is needed to load it. A car missing wheels is still a car we buy.
- Will you tow a car out of a repair shop?
- Yes, with the shop's permission. Settle any bill with the shop first, since they may not release the car until it is paid.
- How soon can you come?
- Same-day pickup is often possible, depending on where the car is and what time you call. We agree on a time with you when you accept the offer.
